This product is developed as a porous C/C composite electrode substrate, specifically designed for use in fuel cells such as PAFC and PEFC systems. Made from PAN-based carbon fiber with high tensile strength, the material is bonded through high-temperature carbonization, resulting in a structure with approximately 78% porosity, enabling high gas permeability. It features excellent electrical conductivity, mechanical strength, and corrosion resistance due to the high-purity carbon matrix. The surface is smooth and uniform, with fibers aligned in one direction, minimizing irregularities. Available in 5% hydrophobic PTFE-treated formats, it comes in common sheet sizes (9×10 cm and 19×20 cm) with a standard thickness of 280 μm. Typical applications include serving as a gas diffusion layer or electrode substrate, where consistent performance and durability under electrochemical conditions are required.

Tokai carbon paper is a porous C/C composite product (composite material of carbon fiber and carbon) produced by high-temperature heat treatment. It is used as the electrode substrate and other electrode aspects in fuel cells due to its excellent characteristics.

5. Surface smoothness: Carbon fibers are distributed in one direction, resulting in excellent surface smoothness and fewer surface irregularities, similar to textiles.
