Specification

A hydrophilic polysaccharide extracted from seaweed - kelp. Almost odorless and tasteless. Moisture-sensitive. Soluble in water, forming a viscous colloidal solution, insoluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, and acids with a pH value lower than 3. The solution does not coagulate when heated. Molecular weight structural unit: theoretical value 198.11 Sodium Alginate, viscosity 200±20mpa.s |
Application: | Stabilizer. Thickener. Used as an artificial semi-permeable membrane. Mordant. Can be used in biochemistry for fixing cells and enzymes; for example, Sodium Alginate can be used for immobilizing glutamate decarboxylase by the Sodium Alginate method. Sodium Alginate matrix can be liquefied by adding chelating agents. |
