The 22BB GDL Carbon Paper (SGL SIGRACET Gas Diffusion Layer) is developed for use as a gas diffusion layer in electrochemical devices such as fuel cells, water electrolyzers, and carbon dioxide reduction systems. This carbon paper features a hydrophobic microporous layer (MPL) coated on a PTFE-treated substrate, with the surface layer containing 5% PTFE and the MPL incorporating 20–25% PTFE for enhanced waterproofing (water contact angle >130°). Compared to the BC variant, the BB model offers higher air permeability and porosity, making it suitable for applications requiring efficient gas transport. Its tailored hydrophobic properties and microporous structure support stable performance in aqueous environments, contributing to improved mass transfer and durability in catalytic processes.
