With a polycrystalline composition of Ni₀.₈₈Co₀.₀₉Al₀.₀₃(OH)₂, it serves as a stable, quality-controlled intermediate for producing NCA-based cathodes. As a precursor, it does not contain lithium ions and therefore exhibits no inherent electrochemical properties; finished electrode properties depend on subsequent processes such as lithium salt addition, mixing, and sintering. This makes it particularly suitable for research institutions and universities focusing on material doping, coating, or process optimization. Widely adopted by major cathode material manufacturers, it provides a reliable foundation for both fundamental studies and development of advanced high-nickel energy materials.
