Common applications include catalyst backing layers in polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC) and phosphoric acid fuel cells (PAFC), where its uniform structure supports efficient reactant transport and current collection. Available in 10×10 cm and 20×20 cm sheets, this material serves as a reliable, cost-effective alternative to woven carbon fiber GDLs for experimental and research-scale setups.
