Details
The first step in the treatment of solid electrode surface is mechanical grinding and polishing to a mirror finish, especially when there is a passivation layer or strong adsorption layer on the electrode surface, it must be treated by mechanical or heating methods. The materials commonly used for polishing electrodes include diamond powder, CeO2, ZrO2, MgO, and α-Al2O3 powder. When polishing, the grinding is always carried out in order of lower particle size of the polishing agent. In the experiment, a 3mm diameter glassy carbon electrode is first polished step by step with metallographic sandpaper (1#~7#), and then polished to a mirror finish on chamois with 1.0μm and 0.3μm Al2O3 slurry successively. After each polishing, the surface dirt is washed off, then moved into an ultrasonic water bath for cleaning, 2-3 minutes each time, repeated three times.
