Platinum black catalysts are commonly used in fuel cells, sensors, hydrogen electrodes, chemical synthesis, chemical analysis, electronics, optics and other fields.
Hydrogen electrode: Platinum black is an ideal hydrogen electrode material. Due to its extremely high specific surface area and excellent catalytic activity, it can greatly reduce the overpotential of hydrogen evolution and oxidation reaction.
Fuel cell electrode: In proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) and alkaline fuel cell (AFC), platinum black is often used to modify the electrode. It can accelerate the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR), and improve the energy conversion efficiency of fuel cells. In PEMFC, platinum black can effectively reduce the dynamic polarization in the process of ORR, and can also be used in direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC), microbial fuel cell (MFC) and phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC).
Electrochemical sensors: used to prepare various electrochemical sensors, such as gas sensors (detecting hydrogen, oxygen, etc.) and biosensors. In the electrochemical sensor for the detection of hydrogen, the platinum black electrode can quickly absorb hydrogen and generate a measurable current signal through the electrochemical oxidation reaction to achieve high sensitivity detection of hydrogen concentration.
